Career Guidance

Are you a licensed agent —or about to be—and feeling overwhelmed by the endless options for brokerages?

Choosing your "brokerage home" is about much more than just the highest commission split. We help you understand what to look for and what questions to ask that actually supports your growth.

Our Mission

Getting started in the real world

Transitioning from real estate school to a real-world career can feel like stepping off a cliff without knowing where the landing pad is. While the licensing exam teaches you the technical, it doesn't teach you how to get started and run a business. This career counseling session at the Real Estate Institute of New England is designed to bridge that gap, providing the foundational blueprint you need to move from "student" to "producer."

Here is what we will cover and why these steps are vital to your success:

  • Selecting a Brokerage & Interviewing Strategies
    • Why it’s important: Your brokerage acts as your launchpad. Knowing exactly what to ask ensures you choose an environment that aligns with your goals rather than just picking the office closest to your house.
  • The "Post-School" Education Gap
    • Why it’s important: Passing the test is only 10% of the job. We focus on the practical, "street-level" skills—like writing contracts and managing clients—that aren't found in a textbook.
  • Essential Business Tools
    • Why it’s important: Efficiency is the difference between a side hustle and a career. We identify the specific technology and systems you need to automate your workflow and stay organized from day one.
  • Support Systems and Resources
    • Why it’s important: Real estate can be a lonely industry. Identifying your support network early—whether through mentors or administrative staff—prevents burnout and helps you navigate your first few transactions safely.
  • Decoding Compensation and Fees
    • Why it’s important: Commission splits are only half the story. Understanding the "hidden" costs of being an agent helps you manage your overhead and realize why the best "split" isn't always the most profitable choice for a beginner.
  • Universal Habits for Success
    • Why it’s important: Some skills are "brokerage-agnostic." We teach you the daily disciplines and lead-generation habits that will keep you successful regardless of which company's logo is on your business card.
